Mouthgards
Dear players and parents,
We are pleased to let you know that we have invited Maxxgard custom fitted mouthguard company to organise on-site impression sessions for custom-fitted mouthguards. Click on link below for dates, times, and locations.
As you know, mouthguards are no longer mandatory with Ringuette Quebec, however, a properly fitted mouthguard is strongly recommended as they help contribute to the enjoyment of the sport by protecting against chipped teeth, as well as cut lips and inner cheeks. Traditional ‘’boil and bite mouthguards’’ do not meet the definition of a properly fitted mouthguard because they generally do not fit in place and the critical areas providing protection are easily chewed-up.
The Academy of Sports Dentistry is aware of new published research suggesting that a properly fitted mouthguard with a thickness of 3.0+ mm in the posterior occlusal (between the upper and lower back teeth) area might reduce the incidence of concussion injury when trauma is delivered to the athlete, but is not as yet ready to support or refute the conclusion.
Prices for the Maxxgard custom fitted mouthguard range between $70 and $110.
